The Home Stretch

It’s been a long and challenging year (thank you, Captain Obvious), but we’re already in the home stretch of 2020. While it can be tempting to get a case of Q4-slide and push hiring and HR initiatives off until 2021, organizations that take full advantage of this time of year are the ones who will end up well ahead of the competition. Here at Inside Talent, we’re focused on what is in our control and how we can help our clients as much as humanly possible so they don’t enter the new year feeling behind or wishing they would have done more to get the best talent sooner.

Are you a Recruiter or Human Resources leader looking to use Q4 to your advantage and get set up for a great start to 2021? Here are a few ideas...

1) Take a hard look at your work goals for the remainder of the year and prioritize those that are both realistic and most impactful to the business and your employees. Create weekly milestones and intentionally block time on your calendar to make it happen. Breaking the work up into smaller chunks can make projects or tasks feel less daunting and you can front load more dedicated time on your calendar before going down the holiday black hole!

2) Create a recruiting timeline taking holidays into account. Thanksgiving is only five short weeks away and it’s easy for interviewing to get sidelined once we reach late November and early December. Putting a hiring plan in place now will help ensure you have offers out the door sooner and talent that’s excited and engaged at the start of the new year.

3) Don’t lose momentum on your diversity goals. We know it can feel overwhelming if you’re just getting going and need to know where to start. The good news is that there are many amazing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategists who can help you put a roadmap in place (or strengthen your existing plan). Start your research and come up with a shortlist of 2-3 diversity consultants in your area who can help move the needle on your organization’s diversity efforts...then start connecting.

We get it. It’s been…a year. But the good news is that there are things you can do now to set yourself and your organization up for success in 2021.
